Fresnaye, Cape Town
Project La.X by OKHA is a refined reworking of a penthouse and rooftop apartment situated on the slopes of Table Mountain with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean over downtown Cape Town’s city skyline and mountain vistas.
OKHA Creative Director Adam Court was briefed by his client to redesign the interior architecture of the space from its anodyne new-build white box status into a luxuriously appointed 3-bedroom, open living and lounging sybaritic retreat on the living level and a chilled micro-resort type pool deck.
On entry to the apartment, the material finishes; the walnut stained wooden screen, the Verde Guatemala marble, the wide beam oak floor, and the sultry atmosphere are an exemplar of the aesthetic which follows on throughout this living level. “The palette was chosen to inspire an enveloping mood and drama, a seductive play of light and shadow, a convey a warm welcoming of intimacy that contrasted but complimented the natural elements of the spectacular exterior scenery,” Adam notes.
The roof deck presents an entirely composed universe of seating, lounging, dining and invites a very social approach to alfresco, much like the deck of a super yacht. But privacy is paramount too, as two iroko wood pavilions with slatted pergola roofs can be shuttered via discreet roller blinds to create, even under a sunlit or starry sky, moments of personal enclosure and relaxing seclusion.
The La.X Penthouse provides an all-encompassing luxury seaboard lifestyle experience, exemplifying prime location and a unique, curated design approach.
