In 2011, we were commissioned by a French/Belgian couple, to provide the interior décor for their four bedroom Villa, V18 Seychelles, on the remote, yet breath-taking island of Felicite, Seychelles. Felicite is home to exquisite beaches, coral reefs and nature reserves, and is now home to this exclusive private villa.
The handful of exclusive private residential villas on Felicite island were designed by UK architects StudioRHE. The private villas literally emerge from the islands granite foundations. Clad in volcanic black basalt – they blend in with the natural rock landscape. Filtered light is sent deep inside the Villas through top-lit swimming pools. The houses capture the wind and use a ‘venturi’ effect to provide natural cooling.
After taking six years for V18’s construction to be completed, we were finally able to install the interiors in March 2017. Given the dynamic future retro architectural style of the villa and its unarguable Bond Villain aura, the interior has a distinctive ClockWork Orange feel, with colours that are either block out bold (orange being on our client’s list of colour must haves), or graphically stylised black and white.
The décor of the villa includes various bespoke OKHA commissioned pieces as well as many OKHA classics, along with the works of B&B Italia, Paola Lenti, Moroso, Foscarini and MDF Italia. The forms and shapes of the décor designs are distinctive, with some signs of 70’s future retro nods. The interior was also determined by the scale of the villa, with the double volume entrance and exceptionally high ceilings which allow for grand lighting installations to be incorporated.
